Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix margarine, sugars and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt (dough will be stiff). Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

Bake until light brown, 8-10 minutes. (Centers will be soft.) Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Melt the butter,
cool slightly, then beat in the eggs. Add the buttermilk to the egg mixture
and blend well. Pour the liquid into the dry mixture. Mix sB
paringly until
just barely combined. The batter will be thick.
Heat a nonstick griddle. Drop large spoonfuls of the batter onto the hot
griddle. Fry until brown on the bottom, flip, then brown the other side.
